I'm still new to the forums, and I did a search here in off-topic to see if I could find a "what do you listen to" or "what do you listen to while working" thread but I didn't see one. I have seen an offhand post here and there that gave some hints. So what DO you guys listen to? I'm guessing Type-O-Negative and Corrosion of Conformity are not in most your CD players, nor are they in mine . I'm a music nut and like almost all styles, so I'll start.

Currently in "heavy" rotation on my mp3 player:

Norah Jones
Hank Sr.
Jack Johnson
Antonio De Lucena
Nine Inch Nails (hmmm, maybe Type-O-Negative and COC aren't too far fetched)
Wes Montgomery
House of Pain (mandatory highschool throwback)
Buena Vista Social Club (with Ry Cooder)
and many, many other fine artists :)

There have been a couple of topics like this, you have to searce the archives as I don't think there is a specific off topic archive section.

Here's my list from the second post below

U2 every thing they've ever done, They rock
Zeplin
Older Elton John
Clapton
CCR
Sting
Dave Matthews
Phil Keaggy
David Crowder Band
BTO (Tim Bachman lives in my town), His son has a cool sound
Early Van Halen
Anything Christmas (I love Christmas music )
Seal
Train, notice on their album that all songs are writen by train (I love memberless groups)
Early Brian Adams
Most of the Classic Rock stuff

You can start with this topic

Than there is This topic

Hopefully more people add to this post.

Ah, I didn't realize that the search wouldn't dig down into the archives too

I like a lot of indie-type rock (Death Cab for Cutie, Pedro the Lion, Shins, etc) and indie-folk (Sufjan Stevens, Iron & Wine, etc) and also some Americana-oriented stuff like Gillian Welch and Nickel Creek.

Over the last couple days, I find myself returning over and over to Susan Enan's myspace page to listen to the two new songs she has up (especially Monoplain). I've had her wonderful EP "Skin, Bones and Silicone" for a couple years anxiously waiting for a new album, which is supposed to happen before the end of the year I think. She's from Belfast, recently transplanted to NYC. Wonderful voice, and nice understated style.

Charlie Hall (Porch and Altar)
Brian McKnight
Marc Cohn
Gavin DeGraw (even though I don't think he's stylistically mature yet)
Amos Lee
Robbie Seay (Thoughts of You)

I think people who like Norah Jones would like Amos Lee. He's like a male
Norah. Same melding of folk and soul.

Gillian Welch   (if you don't know who she is, you should IMMEDIATELY
pick up one of her albums, or buy "Elvis Presley Blues" or Annabelle"
individually) She is outtathisworld amazing.

Fiona Apple

Patty Griffin

Dixie Chicks

And i'm always down with:

Zappa

Beatles

John McLaughlin

Rage

Miles

The Coup

Blackalicious

Chili Peppers

James Taylor

Stevie Wonder

Coltrane

Bill Whithers

Chet Atkins

I could go on forever...

In my shop now,

Don Ross,
Dwight Yoakam
Mixed bluegrass CD
Stevie Ray Vaughn ----> Pride and joy is my favorite on this album!

As a kid, i was raised to Country and bluegrass,as a teenager, mostly disco ( well, girls loved it huh? ) as a young man in College, AC/DC, Skid Row, Yes, Pink Floyds, Beatles, Supertramp, Guns'n'roses, that's the part where i almost lost my hearing! And now, i love acoustic music preference for Tommy Emmanuel, Don Ross, Chet Atkins!

Me, too, Rod. I saw him in concert in 1974, I think, in Memphis. What a show!!............I remember when rock was young, I remember when there wasn't rock.

I like Tony Elder's list.    Right now I'm back into Leon Redbone. Just got two more of his CD's, I think that makes ten.
